Rise and Grind Daily Fantasy: 6/28/19

Each weekday morning I’m previewing the DFS slate for the day. I’ll give my picks to click each day so you can cash. There are many things to consider before lineups lock. You’ll want to make sure each player is actually in the lineup that day so it’s important to check a couple hours before game time. I’ll try and get the Rise and Grind post updated each day as lineups come out. The other thing to seriously consider is the weather. It’s imperative to follow Kevin Roth (@KevinRothWx) on Twitter or at Roto Grinders.  He gives great updates on the weather each and every day. Again, this blog will be updated throughout the day as lineups and weather forecasts come out. For simplicity, I’ll be using DraftKings prices when I reference a player’s cost.

Yesterday’s Results

The below lineup scored 109.5 points which was not good enough to cash. Rodriguez flopped but Pomeranz over achieved with 25.05 points. Realmuto, Baez, and Acuña Jr were the only hitters in double digits.

P- Nola $10,700 P- Anderson $7,400 C- Knapp $2,400 1B- Rizzo $4,600 2B- Castro $2,700 3B- Shaw $2,700 SS- Baez $4,900 OF- Yelich $5,800 OF- Acuna Jr $5,000 OF- Schwarber $3,600

Night Slate: 15 Games

My DFS strategy involves picking at least one of the top 5 pitchers for each slate. Pitchers score more points and are more consistent on a day-to-day basis than hitters. Even the best hitters can go hitless on a given day. It’s also important to check the Vegas lines to see which team is favored to win. Wins and innings pitched are the most important parts of DFS.

  • Jacob deGrom $11,200

  • Jose Berrios $10,800

  • Lance Lynn $10,100

  • Cole Hamels $9,900

  • Mike Clevinger $9,600

  • Mike Soroka $9,300

  • Merrill Kelly $9,100

  • Hyun-Jin Ryu $8,900

  • Wade Miley $8,600

  • Yonny Chirinos $8,400

  • Sean Reid-Foley $8,300

  • Mike Fiers $8,000

  • Sonny Gray $7,700

  • Tommy Milone $7,600

  • Anibal Sanchez $7,400

  • Danny Duffy $7,200

  • Chris Archer $7,100

  • Vince Velasquez $7,000

  • John Means $6,800

  • Felix Pena $6,700

  • Elieser Hernandez $6,500

  • Shaun Anderson $6,400

  • Eric Lauer $6,200

  • Michael Wacha $5,900

  • Daniel Norris $5,700

  • Jhoulys Chacin $5,000

  • Antonio Senzatela $4,600

Finally, an ace that’s worth his price. Jacob deGrom is the man for my number one pitcher slot today. Lance Lynn has a bit of value and so does Mike Clevinger. Avoid Berrios, Hamels, and Sorka if possible.

Ryu has been so good this year but you can’t play him today in Coors. It’s hot and humid in Denver which is a deadly combination with the elevation. I like Miley, Sanchez, Duffy, Archer, and quite a bit but Sonny Gray has a lot more value. Avoid Milone and Fiers.

Hernandez, Anderson, Wacha, and Chacin are all good picks from the Bargain Bin. I really like Chacin against the Pirates though.

Lineup placement. That’s the Holy Grail for me when it comes to hitters in DFS. You want hitters that are batting in the top half of the order so they get more chances to score points. The score projections used come from SabreSim’s free tool that can be found on Fangraphs.
