Rise and Grind Daily Fantasy: 6/24/19

Each weekday morning I’m previewing the DFS slate for the day. I’ll give my picks to click each day so you can cash. There are many things to consider before lineups lock. You’ll want to make sure each player is actually in the lineup that day so it’s important to check a couple hours before game time. I’ll try and get the Rise and Grind post updated each day as lineups come out. The other thing to seriously consider is the weather. It’s imperative to follow Kevin Roth (@KevinRothWx) on Twitter or at Roto Grinders.  He gives great updates on the weather each and every day. Again, this blog will be updated throughout the day as lineups and weather forecasts come out. For simplicity, I’ll be using DraftKings prices when I reference a player’s cost.

Yesterday’s Results

The below lineup scored 144.65 points which was good enough to cash. Woodruff lead the way with 32.95 points and deGrom scored 22.7. Not the order I expected but I’ll take it. Hedges scored a crazy 28 points and Altuve scored 21. Acuña Jr and Harper both scored over 10 points.

P- deGrom $10,500 P- Woodruff $7,900 C- Hedges $2,600 1B- Hoskins $4,200 2B- Altuve $3,900 3B- Kang $2,700 SS- Gregorius $3,300 OF- Yelich $5,900 OF- Acuña Jr $4,800 OF- Harper $4,000

Pitchers

My DFS strategy involves picking at least one of the top 5 pitchers for each slate. Pitchers score more points and are more consistent on a day-to-day basis than hitters. Even the best hitters can go hitless on a given day. It’s also important to check the Vegas lines to see which team is favored to win. Wins and innings pitched are the most important parts of DFS.

PREMIUM OPTIONS:

  • Lucas Giolito $11,900

  • Clayton Kershaw $10,400

  • Jon Gray $9,800

  • Zach Eflin $9,200

MEDIUM COST OPTIONS:

  • Zack Greinke $8,400

  • Julio Teheran $8,100

  • Jon Lester $7,600

  • Eduardo Rodriguez $7,500

  • CC Sabathia $7,100

BARGAIN BIN OPTIONS:

  • Adam Plutko $6,900

  • Steven Matz $6,700

  • Drew Pomeranz $6,300

  • Brad Keller $6,000

  • Aaron Sanchez $4,500

Once again, you can continue to ignore the premium tier of pitchers as they’re priced too high. Giolito is a particularly poor play.

Eduardo Rodriguez is my pick of the night. He’s got big value against the White Sox. I don’t like the other pitchers in this tier but Greinke would be an OK play.

The Bargain Bin has two good plays in Matz and Pomeranz. I prefer the later quite a bit though.

Hitters

Lineup placement. That’s the Holy Grail for me when it comes to hitters in DFS. You want hitters that are batting in the top half of the order so they get more chances to score points. The score projections used come from SabreSim’s free tool that can be found on Fangraphs.

  • Ronald Acuña Jr, OF $4,800

  • Kris Bryant, 3B/OF $4,500

  • Carlos Gonzalez, OF $2,700

  • Danny Jansen, C $2,100
